2021 Design Awards

Dec 29, 2021

Nowadays products speaks for themselves. Every piece of product implies a magical journey of imagining, creating, and some of these products become timeless and iconic. Well recognised international design awards – such as the Wallpaper* Smart Space Awards, NYX x Design Awards, Design Anthology Awards 2021, Dezeen Awards 2021, Interior Design's Best of Year Awards 2021 and Archiproducts Design Awards 2021 – seek to identify these outstanding products and shine a light on their contribution to the evolution of great design. This year, our products have been shortlisted in numerous design awards, and four of them have been selected as winners in their category.

KITE by Nendo Design Anthology Awards 2021 & Dezeen Awards 2021 & Archiproducts Design Awards 2021

This year, Kite has been selected as the winner in three internationally recognised design awards including the Archiproducts Design Awards (winner in the Contract Furniture category) the Design Anthology Awards (winner in the Product Design category) and the Dezeen Awards (winner in the Workplace Design category). Kite is our first collaboration with Japanese designer Oki Sato of Nendo. Kite is a compact armchair designed with commercial and hospitality spaces in mind and in particular small spaces, as it takes up minimal room while offering the chair's user a sense of calm and security. The backrest and seat are independent parts, with shallow and deep seats and lower and taller backs available for use in combination, according to the size of the space and degree of privacy desired.

EVERYDAY by Neri&Hu Wallpaper Smart Space Awards 2021

The Everyday pendant, designed by our creative directors Neri&Hu won the ‘Most Illuminating Lighting’. Everyday is deliberately quotidian, straightforward, simple and unpretentious. It evokes memories of lamps of a bygone era, while also remaining resolutely modern and sleekly elegant, offering a welcome respite from excessive fuss.

FRAME by Nendo NYC x DESIGN Awards 2021

Now in its sixth year, the NYCxDESIGN Awards 2021 honour outstanding projects and products in categories that span major areas of design. The non-profit organisation nurtures, supports, and provides opportunities for NYC’s design sector. Frame by Nendo for Stellar Works has been honoured in the Bath category at the sixth edition of the NYCxDESIGN Awards. Nendo designed a simple L-shaped steel frame system that can be used for a multitude of purposes. ‘Frame’ can be hung on a wall as a towel rail, holding a mirror at two points and can be transformed into a shelf. It can be customised with small circular mirrors or longer elliptical mirrors to use in combination with shelves and towel bars. There are also floor mirrors which allow the frame to be used as a free-standing mirror with garment racks.
