A New Noma Pop-Up in Kyoto An Incredible Journey of Gastronomy

Noma is one of the world's most notable and acclaimed restaurants, it is not only just a three-Michelin-starred restaurant, but it also represents a progressive and seasonal culinary phenomenon. Following its first residency in Tokyo in 2015, Noma is back in Japan and will run a pop-up in Kyoto from 15 March to 20 May. Led by co-owner and renowned chef René Redzepi, the Noma team will kickstart a re-invention of its gastronomy to reflect its temporary home.

Housed at The Ace Hotel, near the 700-year-old Nishiki food market, Noma Kyoto will offer a lunch and dinner menu that explores the roots of Western tasting menus, while highlighting local ingredients harvested during the Sakura (cherry blossom) season in Kyoto.

Stellar Works feels honored and excited to be the furniture partner of Noma Kyoto. Moreover, our longstanding design collaborators OEO Studio are behind the design concept for Noma Kyoto, blending Scandinavian aesthetics with Japanese sensibilities, to bring about a refined fusion of craftsmanship and materiality to elevate the eating experience at Noma Kyoto.

Noma Kyoto will showcase Aya, a collection of dining tables and chairs by Danish designers OEO Studio. The Aya collection comes ten years after Stellar Works and OEO Studio’s first collaboration and showcases a shared aesthetic for clean, minimal design. Aya’s elegant and light wooden frame is inspired by Asian culture and design, and effortlessly carries the soft, embracing shell and seat.

While comfort and durability lie at the core of the chair’s design, it is complemented by an elegant and timeless silhouette. The design of the Aya tables mirror the structure and details of the chair frame, resulting in a coherent and pared back collection suitable for domestic and hospitality settings alike. The Slow collection by Space Copenhagen also features within the restaurant, its beautiful narrow silhouette perfectly reflecting the aesthetic of the Noma Kyoto pop up.
