TOP3 STAYCATION HOTELS IN CHINA FOR WEEKEND GETAWAYS

In the post-pandemic era, ‘staycation’ has become a much used phrase that caters to the wanderlust of the domestic traveler. Stellar Works has handpicked three hotels in China, perfect for a weekend getaway to rediscover local hidden gems and save on precious travel time.

Nantou City Guesthouse

Shenzhen, China

Nantou City is an urban village nestled in the heart of Shenzhen, a burgeoning city that has experienced astonishing growth. When strolling through the inner city, visitors are immersed in the tightly knit alleys, plazas and cul-de-sac’s where residents, street vendors and tourists gather.

Neri&Hu has converted a nine-storey apartment building in Nantou City into a hotel that appears to be wrapped in metal mesh. Inspired by the vibrant milieu of alleyways in this area, Nantou City Guesthouse attempts to reflect its surrounding cultural heritage. As such, the existing exposed structural elements have been combined with modern additions throughout the building. With our robust yet exquisite Discipline Sofa by Heri&Hu showcased in the industrial style guestroom where past and present collide to celebrate Nantou’s urban characteristics.

Rosewood Hotel

Guangzhou, China

Situated on the top 39 floors of the 108-story CTF Finance Centre, the seventh-tallest building in the world, Rosewood Guangzhou is a veritable “Mansion in the Sky”. With a nod to the city’s industrious history of innovation, Rosewood Guangzhou fuses together bold architecture, elegant design, natural scenery and boundary pushing artwork for an elevated experience.

Stellar Works Design duo Yabu Pushelberg deliberately selected materials and textiles that reference ancient Chinese crafts, imbued with stylish and artistic design aesthetics combined with a modern and residential-inspired approach for this hotel. The Arc, Blink, Slow, QT/Chillax and Infinity collections from Stellar Works have been used in guest rooms, restaurant and bar, which enhances the urban luxury lifestyle that Rosewood Guangzhou epitomises.

TAOXICHUAN HOTEL

Jingdezhen, China

First up is Jingdezhen, a city globally recognised as the capital of porcelain and the historic home of the Chinese ceramics industry. A newly celebrated tourist destination, it offers a wealth of creative experiences, from pottery workshops to distinctive art markets.

Defined as “a sanctuary of calm and sophistication”, its location in the city’s vibrant creative quarter unites the best of design and culture. Taoxichuan Hotel launched as part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt and was designed by David Chipperfield Architects and AIM Architecture in a collaboration that artfully unites tradition and innovation and amplifies the spirit of modern elegance. Space Copenhagen’s Slow Lounge Chairs for Stellar Works blend seamlessly into the restaurant’s minimalist design, while our Industry Bar Chairs feature in the guest rooms to lend a refined yet decorative touch.
